EVERY year they have watched it on TV from the comfort of their sofas.
fake rolex But this year friends Robert Egan and Lauren Heywood are lacing up their running shoes and are taking on the Great North Run.
The Huddersfield pair will each pound 13 miles through the streets of Tyneside this Sunday to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Robert, 29, of Linthwaite, told the Examiner: "I decided to do it after many years' waking up on a Sunday morning - or a Sunday afternoon after a few drinks the night before - turning on the TV and watching the coverage and saying 'I'm going to do that next year'.
"The years go by and you don't do anything about it - so this year I thought I would."
Robert had no hesitation in choosing the Anthony Nolan Trust in memory of former Examiner reporter Adrian Sudbury, who died from leukaemia last year.
Robert said: "I used to play football with him every Sunday.
"He was a great guy and so I immediately thought of him."
Robert, who grew up in Lindley, convinced good friend Lauren, from Scholes, to run the half marathon with him.
The pair have been training together at Taylor Hill.
Robert said: "I think I'm at the front of the field - stupidly. I'm going to try and go for a time.
"We're not running together, Lauren will be at the back of the field.
"But we're travelling up together." Robert, a graphic designer, has also been training in his lunch breaks.
He also plays for Old Collegians Football Club, based at the Black Bull in Lindley, so has been keeping fit with pre-season training.
Another fundraiser doing the run, recently renamed the Great Run, is Janet Bebb.
The Meltham woman is doing the half-marathon for the 10th time to raise money for the Hepatitis C Trust.
rolex fake Her friend, Lesley Jenkins, contracted the disease 20 years ago after receiving contaminated American blood in a transfusion.
Janet, 49, said: "It's been horrendous for her. I want to do this run to raise awareness about Hepatitis C because it's a disease which can go undetected for a long time."
Janet started running on January 1, 2000 to keep in shape and is about to take part in her 10th Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday.
The mother-of-two said: "It's a fantastic experience which is unlike any other run because there are people right along the 13-mile route cheering you on."
Other locals taking on the Great Run this weekend include: Adele Lee, 39, a nurse from Brighouse and novice runner, who is running for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Roy Henstock, from Bradley. The 61-year-old will raise money for the NSPCC.
Teacher Sonia Bardell, 33, of Meltham, who will be supporting the Children's Heart Surgery Fund at Leeds General Infirmary.
David Cowgill, 68, from Kirkheaton who is running for Epilepsy Action.
Bridget Walsh, 55, from Moldgreen, is hoping to raise cash for Cancer Research.
Husband and wife Neil and Christina Waddington, from Birchencliffe will join Christina's sister Tracy Heany and niece and nephew
